New DHL SERVICEPOINT in Penang boosts convenience and accessibility for SMEs and Consumers

DHL, the world's leading express and logistics company, has recently opened its first northern SERVICEPOINT outlet at Jalan Cantonment, Pulau Tikus on Penang island.
The DHL SERVICEPOINT outlet is designed for walk-in retail customers, as well as for account-based customers who prefer to drop-off their shipments. Retail customers have an option to make payment by credit card.
The DHL SERVICEPOINT core product offerings include Express4U (E4U), an easy-to-use and convenient service for sending documents and parcels with flat-rate prices, worldwide and University Express (UE), the fastest, most reliable and secure way to send student applications and excess baggage abroad. In addition, DHL SERVICEPOINT also offers Express Pallet (EP), a packaging and transport solution designed to match real-time distribution systems with an all-inclusive pricing.
In conjunction with the nation's 50th anniversary, walk-in customers will also receive a guaranteed gift? for every shipment lodged from 16 August ? 31 December 2007.
The pioneering DHL SERVICEPOINT retail strategy first debuted in 2005 as a Malaysian first at Menara Axis, Petaling Jaya. DHL SERVICEPOINT is a direct response to market evaluation studies, which revealed that customers seek wide choices in services, especially the flexibility to ship items at their own convenience. With this in mind, the DHL SERVICEPOINT outlets are designed with the key attributes of accessibility, convenience and user-friendly features. The 244 square meters outlet in Penang is the latest example of this model.
Sam Leong, Country Manager for DHL Express Malaysia and Brunei, said, ?DHL SERVICEPOINT outlets are by design strategically located in high-traffic areas, making them easily accessible by walk-in customers. The Cantonment Road addition in Penang makes it convenient and flexible for the many SMEs in the bustling town area to meet their business shipment needs.?
?Customers speak directly with trained DHL staff at DHL SERVICEPOINT, which is a level of service that no other express and logistics provider offers in such convenient locations. This is a unique personalized touch from DHL and very reassuring for the SME customer who are known for their own personalized service,? Mr. Leong added.
DHL has plans to open several DHL SERVICEPOINT outlets over the next three years in key cities throughout Malaysia. The outlets will strengthen DHL's existing network and position it to further grow its customer base, particularly the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) whose success may depend on their ability to expand regionally and globally.
The latest outlet in Cantonment Road, Pulau Tikus adds to the six SERVICEPOINT outlets already operating in Menara TM, Menara Axis, Bangsar Baru, SS2 Petaling Jaya, to the DHL Klang Valley Service Centre in Glenmarie, as well as to the recently opened kiosk in Central Market, which specifically caters to tourists.
The DHL SERVICEPOINT outlet in Cantonment Road operates from Monday to Friday between 9am and 6pm, Saturdays from 9am to 1pm, Sundays from 11am till 2pm and is open on public holidays.
