DHL revs up for DHL Asia Cup 2007 Qualifying Round

DHL, the world's leading express and logistics company, is firing up for the inaugural DHL Asia Cup 2007, an extraordinary team-building exercise involving 450 employees from Asia Pacific in the sport of football and cheerleading. South East Asian (SEA) teams will have their own Qualifying Round in football on Saturday 28th April at the Royal Selangor Club, Mont Kiara.
More than 100 participants, representing the SEA regional teams from Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore and Thailand will battle it out to qualify for the DHL Asia Cup 2007 on Friday 22nd - Sunday 24th June 2007. Out of the six football teams participating, only four will go through to the DHL Asia Cup Finals, with Malaysia auto-qualifying as the host of this exciting event. Besides the football squads, there will also be cheerleading teams involving ten countries - Oceania, China, Korea, Japan, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand - who will conduct their own competition parallel to the football tournament.
The DHL Asia Cup 2007 is a first-of-its-kind tournament involving DHL employees from the Asia Pacific region. The event is organized and hosted by DHL Express Asia Pacific as a means of promoting teambuilding across all of the company's business units and follows the success of the DPWN World Sports Event, organized by DHL's parent company Deutsche Post World Net. Regarded as the world's largest human resource teambuilding event ever organized, the DPWN World Sports Event in 2006 was participated by 2,500 staff from 24 countries, including 400 from Asia Pacific.
Sam Leong, Country Manager Malaysia and Brunei, DHL Express said, "It is an honour that the first DHL Asia Cup will be held in Malaysia and we fully anticipate the Qualifying Round in the Football category happening this weekend. The primary goal of this one-of-a-kind event is to strengthen the feeling of unity of employees of all levels within the DHL family in the Asia Pacific region, be in couriers to board members. The DHL Asia Cup is a prime example of how we are committed to being the Employer of Choice - the event is a fantastic opportunity to bring our people together in the spirit of comradeship and teamwork, which is a key element of DHL's success stories worldwide".
