DHL Unveils Plans to Expand Its Data Centre in Asia-Pacific

DHL, the world's leading express and logistics company, has announced plans to expand its Asia Pacific IT Services Data Centre by a further half of its current size. This highlights DHL's commitment to the development of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) and the establishment of the Centre of Excellence for IT Services to meet growing demands of its business. With this expansion, DHL's investment in MSC will have surpassed RM1.5 billion (US$435 million) since it establishment in Cyberjaya almost ten years ago.
The enhanced data centre will have state-of-the-art features with 70% more rack space for servers than the current centre and is expected to be completed over the next five years. With the expansion, DHL IT Services Asia-Pacific will be able to host more services as well as new, innovative IT solutions that are crucial to the DHL logistics industry business.
"The expansion will provide us with additional infrastructure to deal with the ever increasing transactions that DHL handles as a result of the business growth in this region, promising greater capacity and cost effectiveness. To complement this expansion, we will also be setting up a Global Applications Development Centre that will enable us to enhance our application development capabilities for DHL's IT operations worldwide," said Lee Chuan Yew, Head of DHL IT Services Asia-Pacific.

Their support will allow us to not only meet the needs of a thriving business but also to capitalize on the technical skills and knowledge available in this country. With this expansion, we anticipate more opportunities for training, career development and recruitment of Malaysia?s knowledge workers," he added.
